So on Monday I smashed my new car's door up, found out it is $1800 in damages, got a new auto insurance quote that is quite high because now I am seen as a high risk driver (ugh), and early Friday morning I ended up in the ER and had unexpected surgery.
I already briefly explained my current situation on Facebook, but here it is for my blog:
Thanks a ton for all of the support and concern! I had an intestinal obstruction (well my intestines were badly twisted) and a lot of scar tissue built up from an intestinal surgery I had when I was 5 months old. I was in SOOO much pain, had to have an NG tube in my nose (horrible experience) and had to have surgery to get everything straightened out and the scar tissue cut out. The good news is that things should be okay for quite a while since they went in and fixed something that has been brewing for quite some time, but the bad news is that I will probably have this happen again later on in life...I hope much much later. The worst part about this is that I am a stay at home mom with Eben and he is going to be too heavy for me to lift for a month or so. Luckily we are still in Fargo for 5 1/2 weeks so our parents are helping out and then we are going to enroll Eben in daycare for about a month so I can heal during the day (and I suppose try to pack for our move!) and then Dane can help out at night. Dane is figuring out what it is is like being a full time Mr. Mom right now and it's going well. He says he and Eben are becoming best buds :)
It is Mother's Day today and there is no celebrating in this family :( Eben and Dane came to visit me and luckily I think Eben recognized me this time (yesterday he didn't know who I was as I had an NG tube in and my glasses on and I couldn't interact with him as usual). It is SO hard to not be able to sweep him up in my arms, kiss his little cheeks, and rock him like I do so much every day. This has been an emotional ride and it is going to take some serious getting used to.
I am so incredibly thankful for Dane, Eben, our families, and all our friends as everyone has been so supportive. My mother is taking an entire week off of work to take care of Eben while I am still in the hospital, Dane's family is putting in a lot of babysitting time and helping out Dane, and we have had so many other offers for assistance as well. (Dane's employer also allowed him to have Friday and Saturday off of work). We could not have done this without everyone. Thank you times a million!
