One Month Old

My littlest is one month already - time sure does fly faster when you have your second vs. your first baby.  I have decided to do monthly "photo shoots" of Bode and write a little about his growth (may as well since I have the stuff to do it!).  These posts are for family and friends living far away who care, but mostly for me so I have some documentation about his first year as it is so easy for it to just slip by without any record.  So to those who don't care and think I am writing too much about my baby...sorry in advance!  :)

Size: gotta be between 9 and 10 pounds, but not sure.  He just started growing out of some of his newborn size things.  If this was my last baby I think I would be crying every time he grew out of clothes...

Sleep: giving me some 5-6 hour stretches of sleep every once in a while, but otherwise 3 hours between feedings.  He is a noisy sleeper with his grunts and other weird noises so it makes for a restless night for all of us!  Hoping he is going to grow out of this soon!  He still sleeps a lot during the day and is on no nap schedule.

Development: Not quite smiling yet, but I know it's coming any day.  He definitely smiles in his sleep a lot and we have also heard some sleeping giggles!  My favorite thing is watching Bode doze off - his eyes are half open moving everywhere while his face goes through ever human emotion imaginable...it's hilarious.  Bode's head control is getting better, but still pretty wobbly.

Personality: He is SO chill and cuddly - very similar to how Eben was as a baby.  He pretty much just cries when he is hungry or very tired and wants to be held to go to sleep.  I will not take credit for our babies being like this so far because Dane is the chill one in the family.

Sibling Relationship: Eben really seems to love Bode.  About 42 times a day, Eben rubs Bode's head and says, "Bode...niiiiiiice."  He repeats Bode's name over and over again sometimes when he gets up from sleeping.  He will try to help out when Bode is upset by giving him his paci or rubbing his head.  He also likes to point out and say Bode's facial parts like ears, nose, and mouth.  Eben has never been rough with Bode or mean to him.  Now to say that Eben is fully adjusted to the new baby in the home would be a lie.  He is still throwing more tantrums than usual and having sensitive moments.  The possibility is that Bode just turned Eben into a typical toddler and he is here to stay until he grows out of it.  On another note - about a week ago Bode and Eben sneezed at the EXACT same time twice...now how is that for a brotherly bond?!

Other: I LOVE having a newborn around the house again.  This surprises me because I was really nervous and thought I wouldn't have much time to enjoy Bode...I also dreaded the lack of sleep that comes with it all.  But I am handling it all really well and I have tons of cuddling time with Bode when Eben is sleeping.  It is actually making me think about having another baby again...but don't get too excited, grandparents, it will be awhile as we don't have room for another child right now at all.
