Sleep: Not as awesome, but okay. He seems to have his feeds a little mixed up lately - eating about every 4 hours at night, but doing a 6-7 hour stretch in the morning when we are out and about. He also wakes up numerous times during his long afternoon nap to eat, but goes right back to sleep - I don't understand this weirdness right now, but I am sure it will pass. Also, still waiting for the little bugger to start rolling onto his tummy so he can just sleep like that all of the time without supervision...soon I hope!
Development: "Big Bode Smiles" aplenty! He rarely has little smiles, but usually goes all out and it's hilarious. He smiles, then opens his mouth as wide as it can go, and because he can't open it any further, he tips his head down, chin to chest, as if he is trying with all of his might. Bode also sits up very well in his Bumbo chair, is putting toys in his mouth a lot and LOVES Sophie the Giraffe (click here if you don't know who that is), and loves to always look around.
Personality: He's not much of a cuddler anymore, but he almost always prefers to be held (although he must be turned outward to the world). He is still relatively chill, but has more wants now and doesn't mind sharing them. I really think he is going to be tougher than Eben was, not getting so scared of loud noises or things bumping into him...and this will be all because of Eben, who loves to scream too much and pay attention to where Bode is, too little.
Sibling Relationship: I am really starting to feel that Eben truly loves Bode. He is so concerned when Bode is sad, hungry, or any other noisy emotion. Eben has been even taking the initiative to solve the problem himself (sometimes in ways that scare Mommy, such as trying to pick him up or feed him snacks). Eben gives Bode many random kisses throughout the day, laughs at him when Bode talks or kicks Eben, lays down next to Bode, and crawls on and around him (which is probably the most stressful part right now - preventing Bode from getting squished). Eben also loves when I put Bode in Eben's crib with him.
Other: Bode does not like cold pool water...yet anyway...but he does like warm lake water. He likes the stroller...but does not like the carseat much unless we are moving...likes the baby swing at the park...does not like to be left out of the action, sitting anywhere alone...LOVES the song, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, just like his brother did at his age. I put that song on in the car when he is fussy and almost always he instantly calms down. Pretty amazing...
Oh, and P.S. - there are A LOT of photos for this month's shoot. I was trying out two new blankets I got on clearance at IKEA and Bode was in a great, goofy mood - so here they are!
Oh, and Eben and Dane came home at the end of the shoot from swimming in our neighborhood pool...managed to get him to kiss Bode - not a great pic, but a cute snapshot anyway :)
